Mountain bike experience at LVV

With the velodrome being restored for public use again (after the UCI World Track Championships) HASVC's group had an opportunity to get onto LVV's mountain bike trails. It is safe to say that every rider found this experience another cycling buzz to remember.
LVV's specialist MTB coach Jules Allen was on hand to lead the session which was much appreciated and four of CC Hackney's regular coaches assisted him. Five groups were organised by ability and all went out for an adventurous time on the well crafted single track routes. No accidents were reported and after debrief and learning reinforcements one question came back from the floor; 'when can we do MTB training at LVV again!?'

In answer HASVC will look at returning for special MTB & BMX sessions during the school holidays. For the next two weeks (14th & 21st March) it's track time again, we are back inside. But Monday 28th March there will be NO SESSION, yes let's all have a break, we deserve it:)

Photos from the Monday 29th February 2016

The last of our series of three BMX sessions took place yesterday evening. During this hour riders had time to practice competition BMX gate starts and 8-up races. Because of the great turn out again the track was kept busy with wave after wave of riders speeding over the course.
At the end coach Tai Suleyman reinforced what had been covered during training time together and took the names of ten riders keen to enter some BMX races this spring.

Next week we will be trying out mountain bikes on the ATB trails.

Demo (young) man Meeshaq Malone leads the way

There was a very good turnout for our first of three in a row BMX training sessions with 28 young members riding the Olympic class BMX track, some for the first time. Our coach Tai Suleyman expertly instructed the group with the help of one of his experienced riders from Hackney BMX club; Meeshaq Malone's main role was to demonstrate good techniques to his peers. There were no falls or collisions, well done riders & staff, maintaining HASVC & CCH's excellent safety record.

Home work from Tai: study YouTube for good BMX techniques & skills.

Next week riders are going to learn how to do manuals and wheelies.

Thanks to Amelia French for the on track atmospheric actions pictures.
